FLIGHT
Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics.
- In your groups of 3 you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behaviour.
- In groups of 3 you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behaviour.
4 forces of flight:
- Gravity
- Thrust
- Drag
- Lift
Paper Plane:
Material:
1. 1 paper
Material:
1. 1 paper
2. ruler
3. paper clip
Steps:
1. fold the paper in half make sure it is made as a long strip
2. the 2 triangles at the top, the corner of the triangle should go up to the lines
3. fold the side with the triangle with the tip of the triangle close to half, then make 2 more triangles, do the same thing at the (2nd line), fold the small triangle up then fold it into a half, then fold the wings make sure they are the same then your done.
Findings:
Plane Type
|
Distance
|
Behaviour
|
Normal
| 0.5m | it went straight |
Ailerons
| 0.3m | it curved up then to the ground |
Paper clip | 0.1m | it fell to the ground |
Conclusion:
Nice work John there is a lot of work in this post
