Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass.

Examples are:

  1.  Air
  2.  Oil
  3.  pool
  4. water

Materials

1.Funnel
2.Container
3.Filter paper
4. sand
5. pebbles
6. dirty water
7. scissors
8. cup

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle so the bottle is in two even parts and the top half of the bottle can be used as a funnel and the bottom can be used as a container

Step 2

Put the top half of the bottle upside down on top of the bottom piece.

STEP 3

Make a cone shape out of your filter paper and Add layers of sand inside of that cone and place the cone right way up inside of the funnel

STEP 4

After you have done that add 1 cup of pebbles and pour the pebbles inside the funnel aswell then Get 1 cup of dirty water

STEP 5

Pour the dirty water into the funnel slowly and watch what the magic happen

Findings
I found out that if you pour the water fast the water would not really change but if you pour it slowly it would turn out pretty good

Drops per minute: 23
Water color: Light brown
Conclusion: The water looks not really safe to drink but it made a difference I also found out how to make this it is a fun thing to do for science and i would really recommend doing it

After you have done all of that you need to tip the dirty water out and get another cup and the water that is at the bottom of the bottle needs to go in the cup.
After that, you need to make another cone and place the cone on top of the pebbles then pour the water slowly inside that cone.

After that happens drops would come out and the water should be cleaner than the first lot that you have done.
